In the article entitled “Assessment of Myocardial Mechanics Using Speckle Tracking Echocardiography: Fundamentals and Clinical Applications” by Geyer et al (J Am Soc Echocardiogr 2010;23:351-69), there was an error on the first line of the second paragraph on page 353. The correct sentence should be: “Myocardial shear in the circumferential-longitudinal plane results in twist or torsional deformation of the LV during ejection such that, when viewed from the apex, the LV apex rotates in a counterclockwise direction and the base rotates in a clockwise direction.”
